Downside. We are so used to portables, the earpiece cord isn't long enough to go very far from the phone itself. The ringer also can be adjusted. I just press a button for amplification. He now can call his folks, his friend, or my cell with a simple touch. This phone has given my husband, who has Alzheimers, independence. I also love the phone which is perfect to use with or without my hearing aids. I'm thinking of purchasing multiple units.
The phone works advertised and despite the absence of a rotary dial my 90+ parents use it.
This phone has been wonderful for my wife who is in a nursing home, and has vision problems. I would recommend this phone to anyone with similiar needs. We bought this phone to replace an older large button phone which was gradually losing receiver volume. The one-button auto dial feature is ideal for her, and the sound quality is excellent.
Also- too many other adjustments available- not great for alzheimers patients- they mess with other things- so I had to tape those down. There is no perfection. it isn't possible to put photos- so we just used their people images and wrote names underneath. the place for photos is so small. I was hoping that using photos would be the answer as numbers are not working with her anymore. I got this phone for my mother with Alzheimers. Problem is. Not perfect but the only phone available that is close to this.
dad who has good enough hearing, but cannot see well. All of those things would make the phone too confusing for him to use.
With the new rules requiring 10 digit dialing, the speed dial is essential. This phone is perfect.
All I wanted was a phone that had large buttons and speed dial. I programmed the speed dial numbers for him and he is a happy camper.
I was looking for a phone for my 87 y.o. I had a hard time finding a phone without an answering machine, multiple lines, caller id, etc.
I like the fact that the speed dial buttons are large as well.
